OK, you really need to be checking out FireflyShipWorks.com. Lots of details are coming out in the comments section. Some highlights:
– The ship will be to 1:180 scale of the size defined by the Serenity blueprints, the most accurate ones to date. The model will be 18″ long.
– Each one will be hand-cast, hand-wired, hand-assembled, hand-painted. It will be weathered appropriately, based on the surface map from the actual 3D model.
– There will be a limited number, they won’t be cheap, and they may or may not be out this year.
– The build is being done by The FX Company. This is a good thing. They’re even more scary obsessive than you are. The model itself will be made by QMx.
Go there and pester them for more answers. And demand T-shirts.
Judging by the prices of some of the other replicas the FX Company has done, the price could looks like it is going to fall in-between $1000 – $1500. I’m a hardcore fan of the show and have bought more merchandise than I probably should have, but that is completely out of my price range.
I’ll stick with my ornament of the ship as an alternative.
Thanks for the “demand t-shirts” plug. I had already left a comment to that effect there. Glad you agree!
Yeah, I’d love to see a guesstimate on cost from Qmx, because I’m already assuming this is going to be way out of my range unless I can pull a payroll heist and avoid the Reavers on the way off-planet…
So very very very pretty. And yet so horribly horribly expensive (not saying it wouldn’t be worth it, just way WAY more than I could justify). *sigh*
I’ll have to stick with my Serenity ornament.
agree completely, Jabberwocky – it’ll totally be worth whatever the cost, but probably not in my budget
