Simon: “Tall card plum. Plums are tall.”
Book: “I’ll take two.”
Simon: “Two. No tall card claim.” (deals) “Three. Dealer forced to claim the tall. Tall card’s around my neck like a weight.”
Seen during the episode “Shindig,” Tall Card was either invented by episode writer Jane Espenson or faked during filming as a pokerish kind of game, depending on which source you like. To my knowledge there is no deck being sold, but there are a variety of deck designs you can download and print yourself. Some of the rules created for Tall Card can be found here.
If you’re looking for a ready-made deck, Shaw Games has you covered.
Originally designed for fun to swap with friends, intense demand arose until John and Melissa Shaw decided they had to offer these to the world. And the world appreciates it.
The first run will be limited to 20 decks, numbered. Each deck comes with a 78-card full-color art deck of 3.25″ laminated cards (72 square cards, 6 round “Tall” cards), a sturdy storage box with full-color label on lid, and an 8-page rule book. For additional fees you can also get a wooden box, rounded corners, or larger cards.
You can also print out designs on card stock and make your own. Check out the decks from these fine Browncoats:
