I watch the kids — and the grownups! — playing their game. Walking around, staring at their phones, hunting for colorful little monsters to catch and collect and fight with.
It’s cute. It really is. I’ve seen families come together, kids on the spectrum opening up to fellow players the way they’ve never opened up to anyone, ever, couples out together taking a walk and laughing as they play. Even led to a brief resurgence in trade at the local downtown area wherever more of the little animated creatures could be found.
It gives me hope. And a little relief, truth be told.
Finally, you’re all seeing what I’ve seen all along, for years. No more jokes about voices or that time I spent under observation, or accusations of drug use or tremors. They’re really there! You all see them!
You can see them!
Grab your guns and join me. We have to catch them all.
