Anyone who has ever searched for Firefly or Serenity on eBay has seen olveg’s replicas for the last few years, and more than a few lucky Browncoats have bought them. These are exact reproductions from the original translites taken from the set of Firefly when the Serenity set was torn down.
Translites are translucent photographs or graphics that can be lit from behind and are often used on TV and movie sets to make computer screens or other effects. This one has two controls on it; a Cortex screen that says “Status: Warning” and “Cortex Activity” with symbols and Chinese characters around it, and a ship status screen that says “Status: Nominal” and “Scanning: Stern.” These screens (or similar) can be seen on the bridge such as this scene from the pilot episode, towards the end when Mal was talking to Simon about staying on the ship.
13 ” by 10″, glossy on one side and matte finished on the other, suitable for back-lighting or just framing.
You can order them from olveg at his eBay auctions.
