“Devil in Red” by River and the Reavers
(Listen to it here)
She waits like a lion in the grass
Anxious hours wasted waiting to attack
It’s been easy come and easy go
But every time it happens the empty seems to grow
But, Oh! to dance
With flowered hair
To drink the wine
Forever mine
Her game is to imitate life
One day as a servant the next a blushing wife
A play for we all do play a part
Bordering on tragedy how this girl blocks her heart
Her face shows a great love for the lie
But no mask of hers can hide what’s buried deep inside
A hole is there
Beyond her stare
Consumes inside
And more she dies
“This mark is the easiest I’ve known
Doughy-eyed and innocent the trust is sure to grow
Then strike when the groom can’t say no
Safe on board this gos se can the plan is set to go
Serenity
Has taken me
They saw my game
A chance to shame, me, gone”
Where will you go?
Where will you go?
Where will you go?
This ends the show.

From the creator:
“Well I have good news and bad news. The bad news is that due to schedule conflicts I was not able to get the necessary time in with “River” to get her vocals recorded, so we do not have a true River and the Reavers entry. However, the stripped down, Reavers only version is still a pretty good tune so I am submitting it. It is still written from River’s point of view and like most of our songs revolves around River reading minds. In this case she discovers (as we see in ‘Trash’) that Saffron is not the happiest person in the ‘verse despite her outward appearance. So this is a River and the Reavers song (minus River).
“On a side note I would like to say thanks for such a fun opportunity, its great to see people keeping Firefly going.”
