“The Husbands’ Lament”
(to the tune of “Early One Morning”)
by Ziv Gur-Arye
Early one morning, just as the sun was rising,
I heard a young man crying in a house that can float:
“How could you leave me, and so deceive me,
How could you use me? my Yolanda oh…”
“Remember the love that I gave you so truly;
You said you will always have love for me too.
Then you and Heinrich ran off together,
I thought that I would never again see you”.
“As soon as I saw you, I started to wonder
Why have you returned after me you forsake?
I simply knew then, you’re here to plunder
The feds are going to be here in a sec”.
Earlier that morning, before the sun was rising,
I heard a big man cursing, in this bar that I go:
“Bridget you devil, I thought that you loved me,
I even shaved my beard off for you”.
Later that morning, while I was driving,
I saw a naked man in the desert below,
Cursing and yelling, as a shuttle was leaving:
“You better run, you dirty ho’ “.
Soon I met with a sweet and charming lady,
Some pretty maiden, that I’ll court for a while;
If only she loved me, I’d be so happy
I’m gonna marry me that wonderfull girl.
Thus sang the maiden, as I won her over ;
“Thus I’m poor maid, has no money to go by
If only you loan me, just untill the wedding
than yes I will certainly be your blushing bride…”
