“Devil Woman”
(to the tune of “Evil Woman” by ELO)
by Heather Daniel
You made a fool of me
But Inara got you in the end
Hey woman, you married me
Preacher told me how it came to be
I got a hat and a drink from you
Then we had a dance and the deed was through
You were in my room with your seduction bright
And then I got my kiss good-night
Ha ha Saffron, nearly got my ship
But Jayne won the day with only a clip.
Devil woman, devil woman, devil woman, devil woman
Smuggling goods on a rocky moon
Met with Monty who’d settled down
For his new wife Bridget he had shaved his beard
But you were my wife first, that’s really weird
Ha ha Bridget what you gonna do
A war bond is too hard to break, even for you
It’s so great that he left you here
Now you’ve got a plan to rob another husband, dear.
Devil woman, devil woman, devil woman, devil woman
Devil woman, devil woman, devil woman, devil woman
Next we went to visit Durin Haimer’s home
And he has the priceless gun sitting all alone
Ha Yolanda, that was your name?
Did you finally catch up with shame?
We left there with the loot in the trash
I thought the real you had come out at last
Ha ha you left me in the nude
But Inara got the best of you
Devil woman, devil woman, devil woman, devil woman

From the creator:
“I’ve been working hard on this one. It was the first song that came to mind when I read about this contest. It was a bit of a challenge, what with the verse tune being difficult to hear in the original song, but I think it came out just right.”
