…which is cool, especially since I didn’t even know he was writing one. “Jumper” is about a young man in an abusive household who discovers, during a particularly savage beating from his father, that he can teleport. We follow him as he runs off to make a new living for himself in New York, which requires one small step to get going: a bank robbery. Love, death, discovery, family ties, covert government agencies, and how to fight terrorists with a lake are just some of the things in this book. But what it is mostly is an author starting with a simple idea and following it to its logical conclusions. What if you could teleport? What would happen? The sequel, “Reflex,” starts 10 years later after Davy is married and working for the government. AFter all these years of believing himself kidnap proof, he finds out how wrong he is. Meanwhile, his wife, who has been teleported by Davy many times, discovers that she can do it too… And that’s it, no more looking at book sites for a week or so. I’m going broke, here.
