From the shape of the box I thought it was a huge Toblerone, but it was almost as good.
As mentioned here previously (and in the QMx Insider newsletter) a stand for the Mal Stunt Pistol replica is now available, and it’s pretty cool. The official description is:
The stand consists of three components: a black lucite base measuring 16.5? x 4? and two clear lucite risers – the front one measuring 5.25? x 2?, the rear one measuring 4? x 2?. The crystal risers give the pistol a floating effect and ensure that no part of the pistol touches the base. And we’ve add a metal plaque declaring you are the proud owner of the Malcolm Reynolds Stunt Pistol replica, for which this stand was specially designed.
Unofficially, it’s a simple and elegant stand that puts all the attention where it belongs, on the pistol. It’s suitably sturdy and easy to assemble. Except… I was thrown a bit by the cardboard paper protection on the base itself – it’s applied so carefully that I didn’t realize it was supposed to be removed till I saw a comment in the other post. It does come off, honest.
Pictured above is the stand in place on my computer desk shelf. Also pictured is the nameplate QMx got signed by Nathan Fillion at one of the Serenity cons last year. It’s not included with the stand. It’s mine. Nyah.
Updated: Well, I was going to tell you to hurry and order yours cuz they’re only making 100 of them… and Andy Gore posted the comment below. They already sold ’em all. In a day. So if you still want one, post a comment below and let him know!
