Look what popped up in Dark Horse’s solicitations for November:
With the fabulous response we’ve received for our Serenity ships, we are happy to continue with this line of ornaments. Last month we offered Inara’s Shuttle, and this month we are pleased to announce the Reaver Ship. Fans of Firefly and Serenity will be familiar with the look of the Reaver ships, created from abandoned ships and spare parts, with their threatening red markings. In Serenity, the Reaver Ships emerge from an ion storm in the quest for Mal and his crew. We’ve based our ornament on one of the memorable, menacing ships in this scene.
5.5 inches long, 3 inches wide, $39.99.
Call me cynical, but this one just doesn’t do it for me. It lacks the detail of the other ships in the series, and it just doesn’t look well sculpted or painted. Pass.
I’m passing too. I have no affection for reaver ships, got no particular desire to display one on my shelf, and wonder what the justification is for making it so much more expensive than the beloved (and wonderful) Serenity ship ornament.
Now, if they were to create the mule, I’d probably buy that. Maybe not at fourty dollars though. Bring it down to the price of the ship, and yeah, I’d buy it.
Seeing our beloved Serenity dolled up into an abomination was plenty bad enough for me, but at least it had a purpose. You can keep this gose, or maybe get it as a gift to some purple belly to remind them what they done…have it shipped direct, anonymously, that.
