namebrand has posted an offer at serenitymovie.org for replicas of the name badges the BDHs used to sneak into the hospital on Ariel, at cost. But first he needs to make sure there’s enough interest, and he needs to hear from you. Read on for details:
“This is a project I am doing over at the Replica Prop Forum. I am going to be making these at cost (or very very close to at cost). I thought I would see if there was interest here for these (for those that aren’t RPF members). This is just in the planning stages so far so prices are estimates and will change depending on how many people are interested (it gets cheaper the more I make).
“Here are a couple ‘prototypes’ I made to make sure the size seemed right and to see how the photos printed out. The one on the left is a custom one I made for myself (no my name is not I.P. Freely).
“I used SatSpeedster’s (an RPF member) files to start these and made changes to be a little more accurate, kudos to him for some great work! He gave me permission to modify his work and also use them as a base for an at cost run.
“The photos of the main characters are taken from photos of the screen used ones that were on display at the UK convention. Because the photos are such low quality to start with I can’t make them much better. They look fine a couple feet away but up close they aren’t as nice.
The cards will be printed on photo paper then laminated, cut to the right size, corners rounded with a rounding punch, and slot punched with a slot punch.
“They will include an accurate clip.
“You’d have your choice of IDs with:
– the correct photo (lower quality)
– a replacement higher quality photo (I’d try my best to find photos that are as close as possible)
– a custom photo of yourself or a friend with whatever name you like (these would cost a little more because of the added time involved in me having to modify photos and such). You’d have to supply an appropriate photo which I would give info for.
“The price I think would be around $5 each for the regular IDs and say $7 each for custom ones. These prices are just guesses at this point because it would depend on the number I would need to make and things like that. I’d need to get a minimum of probably 40 IDs sold to just cover the cost of the equipment for slotting and rounding the corners. If there a lot sold then the price will be less. Since this is an at cost project and the only ones I would make money on would be the custom ones…and $2 isn’t much lol.”
If you’d be interesterd in such a thing, e-mail him and let him know.
