This funky looking piece was what River pulled off an unfortunate bar patron and turned on Mal in the Maidenhead Bar scene.
The Prop Store of London is offering this hardware in a framed display with two great stills from the movie and a laser-cut logo. Perfect for decorating your dive and difficult for any crazy-ass girls to get their hands on quickly. It’s better than a trigger lock!
Hrm… $2350 for this. I suspect that some of us, with a little homework might be able to find out how it was made, but the parts and assemble one ourselves. (Not unlike the Graflex Flashes used to create lightsabers, you can’t buy them anymore – all the hobbyists bought them and turned them into their own jedi gear).
Anyone got ideas as to what part made the gun?

Pretty steep price. I’ve seen prop pieces from Lord of the Rings go for a lot less than that, that I think were much more highly prized.
I’d rather buy a Vash the Stampede gun kid off of Ebay and assemble it, or pay to have it assembled. It’s cooler anyway.
Now if it were MAL’s gun, or if they still had Vera and could give that away…t’would be a different story.
Nice gun shame about price, but still cool.
I started a thread on Propcircle called “Need Good River Bar Gun Replica”.

There is much good discussion and a ton of helpful pics.
Bottom line, it’s an Enfield No. 2 MK 1 that has been cut down and heavily modified.
I intend to build a replica for my Firefly/ Serenity shadow box.
Compared to $2300, a real Enfield No. 2 MK 1 could be sacrificed to make a prop replica.
A Japanese company, Marushin, made a replica of the Enfield No. 2 MK 1 pistol, but its out of production. The last one to go on eBay went for $282.
Any way you slice it, the price is about $2000 out of line relative to the fact that this is a worn stunt stand-in and not the functioning hero version.
Great gun. It’d be awesome to display, but that price is insane!
