So Adam Levermore, graphic artist and geek teen hearthrob, had a root canal after a day of blinding pain. And he went online with it.
I have not slept since 7 am yesterday. I had a root canal today, and now I’m hopped up on vicodin. Someone explain why I’m still awake?

And me, being the good friend that I am, consoled him and commiserated with his pain.
@lexigeek At this point, momentum. Dude, seriously you need to draw stuff RIGHT NOW and post it. #doit #doeet

Adam, being in an oddly compliant state, immediately produced this, which I post for posterity:

Not only is this not at all his usual style of artwork, it’s been two days and I’m still puzzling over the intricate layers of symbolism in this deceptively-simple work. The delicate lines suggest whimsy, almost a New-Yorker style of wry amusement, yet the fantastical elements point to a Tolkienesque flavor, possibly an urbanized homage that speaks to the casual acceptance of elaborate mythology into the modern-day zeitgest. Or else he was whacked out of his mind on drugs.
Adam continued to produce artwork for friends before passing out, and my excited suggestions that we could be looking at a whole new school of art were dashed when someone pointed out that producing artwork under the influence had already been invented. Many times. Like, almost every time.
Either way, I haven’t decided where on my body I’ll tattoo this. Suggestions?
